Joe Budden - looking over his shoulder...

Everybody's crazy and somebody's gon' get shot, get robbed, get done, get stomped, get got. The latest developments with Joe Budden and Raekwon made me think of those pretty old Nas lyrics. He's released four albums since The Lost Tapes. You know what went down so there's no need to rehash it here. And just when it seemed the beef was over. Is it a publicity stunt? It won't matter either way if the wrong crews happen to be walking down the same street for whatever reason. So this is a situation that needs cool heads to prevail. If only for the sake of Rock The Bells. I don't think anyone wants any 'grand opening, grand closing' business.  Joey and Rae are both involved in some very classical hip hop music at the moment and it would be great to be able to focus on that and forget the beef. Particularly when it looks like it could get really real. Maybe a square dance, a genuinely fair one, wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Nobody dies that way. Or even gets hurt badly. In the meantime cop that Slaughterhouse ish and anticipate Cuban Linx II. They're both worth your time.

From the negative to the positive. You know Quincy Jones ain't going out like that. Word to Cypress Hill. Vibe magazine was just on some temporary hiatus. Some new money's in the building. The magazine itself will probably only be quarterly from now on but the internet killed magazines. That's why you're reading this online now.

On a super positive tip Ed OG and Masta Ace have teamed up to become 'A&E'. Pretty good name no? I think so. Continuing that theme, the album is called Arts & Entertainment. Check the single Little Young when you can.  After his EMC link up with Punchline and Wordsworth, Ace is fast becoming the king of collabo albums. Wonder who he'll link up with next? Me personally, I can't wait to hear Doitall from Lords Of The Underground on the 'A&E' album. If you don't know...

Very sad that C Murder has been found guilty of, yes, murder, in the second degree. Equally sad that a young person lost their life over nothing and fronting. This is a situation with no winners. The best thing that can be hoped is that people look at this and don't get themselves into similar trouble.

Let's also have a moment of respect for Baatin of Slum Village whose funeral took place in Detroit on Tuesday August 11. A damn shame. But at least there's the new album to look forward to. Villa Manifesto is the name. Illa J's solo album Yancey Boys is coming soon too!
