We Are HIPHOP.COM

Born in America but since travelled and embraced by people of all nations, hip hop has united those who might otherwise have been divided; it has been abused by some but loved by many. We have grown up with hip hop and we hold it dear.

As the sound of the street it remains a potent force informing the world of injustice and struggle, and as a political voice it has the power to educate and influence opinion. Yet in an equally important guise, it's simply a reason and a means for people to come together and party.

HIPHOP.COM is a new incarnation of the culture that encompasses so much more than just rap: the B-boy, the DJ, the Graf artist, the Beatboxer - all are united under the same banner.

Hip hop has never been about standing on the sidelines - it always required participation and we intend to encourage that spirit by seeking to involve you, our guests.

HIPHOP.COM recognises and salutes the pioneering artists who created and developed the culture in our Foundations section. Our Foundations Playlist provides the essential musical primer for those who have only recently discovered this amazing modern cultural phenomenon but equally serves as a reminder to the faithful of a few forgotten gems.

Our opening features; Chuck D's thoughts on Obama, interviews with Lil Wayne, Grandmaster Flash and beatbox crew Naturally 7 illustrate the scope of our remit. All of these brought to you by a world class team of writers headed up by the site editor, respected journalist Angus Batey.

HIPHOP.COM's cerebral approach is summed up in the words 'A Hip Hop State Of Mind' as this best describes our whole ethos.

Together, We Are HIPHOP.COM
